Expected race details
Expected from the established race format; official categories have not been announced.
Distinctive features
- The race uses the Wugu-Xizhi elevated section of National Freeway No. 1, which is its defining course feature.
- Both the 42.195K and 21.0975K individual categories had 4-hour limits; marathon entrants also needed to submit a recent sub-4 marathon result for review.
- A four-person relay was also part of the event, with each leg around 5K, opening the freeway course beyond solo marathon and half-marathon runners.
Runner notes
- The 2027 edition has not been formally announced; the current timing is a forecast based on recent editions and will be updated after an official date and registration notice appear.
- Official traffic material shows broad freeway and venue-area controls on race day, so shuttle and access planning are major decisions for future editions.
- The elevated freeway is flat but exposed, with direct road feel; heat or wind can make it feel different from ordinary city streets.
Summary
Taipei Freeway Marathon is a rare city road race held on the elevated section of National Freeway No. 1 between Wugu and Xizhi. The course is flat, exposed, and markedly different from a normal city-street race.
